In this page, you can submit your information for an on call driver/courier position with Metro Courier Systems & Logistics to handle transportation of small packages. On call drivers are utilized by almost all transportation/courier and logistics companies in todays industry. Primary purpose of an on call driver is to perform pickup and deliveries when rest of our crew of full time and part time drivers are backed up and can not be at multiple places at the same time. Metro Courier Systems have 3 offices, 47 stationed drivers that covers the deliveries in Northern California 24/7. We are the premier logistics solutions to many corporate clients as well as local and regional companies. We hold certain contracts with these clients where packages need to be picked up and delivered on time requested by dispatch department. Failing to do so may result in nonpayment and discontinue for Metro Courier Systems to use that particular driver.
We at Metro Courier Systems are always looking for smart, efficient, professional and dependable on call drivers to help our backed up work load. Most on call drivers after a while have the option to become our part time and/or full time fleet employee drivers based on their performance, dependability, and efficiency.
Even in this current slow economy, Our organization keeps growing, and we're always getting new clients on board to drive our sales and customer service to the next level.we're able to provide good paying positions to our fleet drivers and staff. In order for us to utilize you as a driver/courier, you must have a GPS, a reliable vehicle, have flexible hours, and must answer your phone to get ready to take jobs during your available days and hours.
Metro Courier Systems DO NOT utilize on call drivers that do not answer their phones to take jobs during their stated availability. When you have to change your availability, you must fill out the "Change of Availability" form (click on the link). and your new available days and hours will be effective in 3 business days.

How & When do i get paid? -We process our payroll every other friday. Checks get cut on Friday and mailed the next business day to your address. or you can come to our Main office to pick it up. Driver's must obtain a pickup and a delivery signature for each delivery, and must fill out a Metro Couriers pickup and delivery slip. top copy has to be returned back to our office in person, mail, or via email @ pod@metrocouriersystems.com
How do know where to pickup and deliver? -Our Dispatch department will send you the job to your phone via our software, and you will be able to see the pickup , delivery information as well as other package details along with special notes.
How much do i get paid? All oncall drivers get paid on per job basis. Driver's get 60% of what we charge our clients. example. when our XYZ client places an order at 8pm on saturday for a pickup in San Francisco Airport, and delivery to San Jose by 9pm, we would charge $87 to our client, driver would make $52.2 on this particular delivery that would take less than hour and a half.
Who pays for Bridge toll, parking etc...? We charge all those accsocerial items to our clients, therefore you get 100% compensation for it. (at times, driver's may have to wait for a package to be available for a pickup. Driver's get paid $30/hour for detention time.)
What do i have to do to become a part time or a full time fleet driver. -We start all our drivers as an oncall basis first. This way, Both you and us have had a chance to work together and you can understand, and asses our operational procedures. At the same time, this period will let us see your dependability, efficiency, and your real performance.
What if get another job while i am working for Metro Courier Systems? -The beauty of an oncall position is that whether you have a full time or a part time job, we still have drivers doing work on the side on their days off, before work or after work. - in other words, this would be your side job on streoids. or if your new commitment will be overwhelming to a point where you will have no extra time what so ever, you can simple give us a week heads up stating you will no longer be available.
What happens if Dispatch department calls me to give a job, and i dont answer my phone? - we might leave a message, and or call you back in a few minutes again, but as it's one of our strict company rules that we tend to not utilize drivers that continuesly fail to answer their phones or call our dispatch department back in a timely manner. (we also understand that you may not have service or be in the middle of something else that you cant breakaway from right away, but we do expect a call back within 10min.)
